The Zen Approach to Acting
Nerves are natural but too many nerves can be a real bugbear for actors both in the audition room and when performing. This workshop led by Megan Latham, actor and sought-after meditation and mindfulness coach, will look at how meditation techniques can help actors develop a more zen approach to their careers, taking their work but not themselves too seriously. There will also be a guided meditation within the workshop.
Megan Latham is an actor, writer, and comedian who began practising daily meditation several years ago. Seeing the profound changes it made to her life and wellbeing, she decided to undergo CThA-accredited training as a Meditation & Mindfulness instructor so that she could share the transformational benefits with others. Megan now teaches to all kinds of people, across community, private, and corporate settings, but especially loves working with actors and other creatives, at venues including the Actors’ Centre and the salon:collective. She believes that improved mindfulness, and the associated benefits including resilience and peace of mind, are powerful tools for the performer. Megan’s approach is straightforward and positive, combining elements from all styles and traditions to make mindfulness and meditation accessible to everyone.
