Representation: Securing The Right Agent
Securing the right representation, at the right time can be a real game changer for your career. But how do you know when the right time is, and what experience do you need to have before you start approaching the agents? Once you are fully prepared, what is the best way to approach them and with what information? Emma Higginbottom from Curtis Brown and Bill Petrie from The BWH Agency will be discussing their process for taking new talent on to their books, and answering questions from the audience. About Emma: Emma initially trained as an actor at the Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts (LIPA) before a brief in stint in casting. In 2011 Emma completed an internship at Curtis Brown before moving onto a full time position as assistant to Talent Agent, Sarah MacCormick. Following her promotion to Talent Agent in 2018, Emma has built an eclectic list of leading Film, Theatre and Television talent.
About Bill: Bill started out in the industry studying at drama school. He left his native Scotland for London in 1984 to train at The Webber Douglas Academy for 3 years, and worked as an actor until early 2000.
He then branched out into casting and agenting, spending a few years temping for several major UK casting directors and agents.
In October 2004, Bill founded The BWH Agency along with Joe Hutton, Lisa Willoughby, and Andrew Braidford. In the last 19 years the agency has grown to represent actors both here in the UK and internationally.
Bill is currently the Acting Co-Chair for the Personal Managers Association.
